More Heartache For The Left: Clinton Policy To Blame For Loughner’s Gun Purchase

One more nail in the coffin formerly known as the left’s credibility.  Such violent rhetoric, I know…

An old policy memo from the Clinton administration paved the way for accused Arizona gunman Jared Loughner to buy his first firearm.

Put in place by then-Attorney General Janet Reno, the policy prohibited the military from reporting certain drug abusers to the FBI, which manages the national list of prohibited gun-buyers, federal officials said.

Loughner attempted to enlist in the Army in December 2008 but was rejected because he failed a drug-screening process, Army officials said. Within a year, Loughner bought a Harrington & Richardson shotgun from Sportsman’s Warehouse in Tucson.

In November, he went back to the same store and purchased a Glock 19 – the one he is accused of using in the Jan. 8 rampage that killed six and wounded 13, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D).

Federal law since 1968 has prohibited gun sales to anyone who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance. Licensed dealers have been required to check the backgrounds of gun-buyers since 1994. But the Reno policy told federal agencies not to report people who had voluntarily given drug tests for fear it would deter them from seeking treatment, federal officials said.

Add the NRA and the eeevil gun lobby to the long list of those whom the left has tried – and failed – to blame for the Tuscon massacre.

BREAKING: White House Used Bill Clinton As Intermediary To Offer Stestak Bribe

Another Obama Friday news dump.  They are calling it an “unpaid, advisory position” which can only mean one thing – they know they are up the creek and are choosing their words very carefully.  And who better than Bill “It depends what the definition of is, is” Clinton to bite his lip for the cameras and deny any wrongdoing.

President Obama’s chief of staff used former President Bill Clinton as an intermediary to see if Representative Joe Sestak would drop out of a Senate primary if given a prominent, but unpaid, advisory position, people briefed on the matter said Friday.

Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, asked Mr. Clinton to explore the possibilities last summer, according to the briefed individuals, who insisted on anonymity to discuss the politically charged situation. Mr. Sestak said no and went on to win last week’s Pennsylvania Democratic primary against Senator Arlen Specter.

The White House did not offer Mr. Sestak a full-time paid position because Mr. Emanuel wanted him to stay in the House rather than risk losing his seat. Among the positions explored by the White House was an appointment to the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, which provides independent oversight and advice the president. But White House officials discovered it would not work because Mr. Sestak could not serve on the board while still serving in Congress.

Mr. Sestak first mentioned publicly in February that he had been offered a job but provided no details, and the White House for three months has refused to discuss it, generating intense criticism from Republicans who accused it of trying to bribe a congressman and deep consternation among Democrats who called on the administration to answer questions.

Mr. Obama promised on Thursday to release an account of the matter, which White House lawyers have been drafting in recent days in consultation with Mr. Sestak’s brother, Richard, who runs his campaign. The White House plans to release its statement later on Friday. Until now, the White House has said publicly only that whatever conversations took place with Mr. Sestak were not inappropriate.

I did not offer that job to that man, Mr. Sestak…..

Leaky Lahey Reverts To Schoolyard Taunts When Questioned About Kagan’s Clinton Memos

Leaky Lahey gives this childish response when pressed over whether he will push the White House to turn over Kagan’s memos from her days as counsel to Bill Clinton:

“I haven’t even thought about what I’m going to do,” Leahy said at first.

When pressed about the importance of mining memos from her four years at the White House to gain insight into her thinking on judicial philosophy and policy matters, Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont, became testy.

“I’ll tell you what. I think what is important is for you to let me run the hearing and we’ll let you know,” he said.

“I think it would be grandstanding on my part to try to tell you what I want to do before I even talk to the nominee,” Leahy added.

When questioned a third time, Leahy shot back: “Maybe you ought to chair the hearing,” before turning and walking into an elevator.

I know you are, but what am I?

Must Read Op-Ed Of The Week

Rush Limbaugh dismantles the concerted liberal effort to paint tea party rallies as the gateway to another Oklahoma City.

The latest liberal meme is to equate skepticism of the Obama administration with a tendency toward violence. That takes me back 15 years ago to the time President Bill Clinton accused “loud and angry voices” on the airwaves (i.e., radio talk-show hosts like me) of having incited Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. What self-serving nonsense. Liberals are perfectly comfortable with antigovernment protest when they’re not in power.

From the halls of the Ivy League to the halls of Congress, from the antiwar protests during the Vietnam War and the war in Iraq to the anticapitalist protests during International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings, we’re used to seeing leftist malcontents take to the streets. Sometimes they’re violent, breaking shop windows with bricks and throwing rocks at police. Sometimes there are arrests. Not all leftists are violent, of course. But most are angry. It’s in their DNA. They view the culture as corrupt and capitalism as unjust.

Now the liberals run the government and they’re using their power to implement their radical agenda. Mr. Obama and his party believe that the election of November 2008 entitled them to make permanent, “transformational” changes to our society. In just 16 months they’ve added more than $2 trillion to the national debt, essentially nationalized the health-care system, the student-loan industry, and have their sights set on draconian cap-and-trade regulations on carbon emissions and amnesty for illegal aliens.

Had President Obama campaigned on this agenda, he wouldn’t have garnered 30% of the popular vote.

Read it all.  Prepare for spontaneous fist pumps.

Bill Clinton Admitted To Hospital With Chest Pains

He underwent a procedure and it looks like he is going to be fine.

“Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest. Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti’s relief and long-term recovery efforts. In 2004, President Clinton underwent a successful quadruple bypass operation to free four blocked arteries.”

Of course the Huffington Post won’t have to shut down comments like they did when Dick Cheney underwent a similar procedure.

Clinton, Special Envoy To Haiti Hobnobs With Rich Dem Donors While Haitians Suffer

Special Envoy to Haiti, Bill Clinton, came to Boston today to campaign for Martha Coakley in the midst of a humanitarian crisis in Haiti.  The event took place at the posh Fairmont Copley in the Back Bay.  This while Haitians are suffering through a living hell.  I wonder if this will make the Haitian community in Boston more or less likely to vote for Coakley on Tuesday.

The pictures speak for themselves.

Hillary Clinton: Pantsuit On Fire Liar

Hillary told her most recent self-serving tall tale last week in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  hill

The US Secretary of State was exposed during her battle with Barack Obama to become the Democratic presidential nominee over her claims to have landed in Bosnia under sniper fire.

She was even described as “a wee bit silly” for claiming greater credit than was her due for the Irish peace process, having made several visits to Northern Ireland as First Lady.

She was back in Belfast last week, giving a gentle push to politicians dragging their heels over a final piece in the peace process jigsaw.

But according to the Sunday Life newspaper, during a speech she made to the Stormont parliament she said that Belfast’s landmark Europa Hotel was devastated by an explosion when she first stayed there in 1995.

The Europa, where most journalists covering the decades-long conflict stayed, was famed as Europe’s most bombed hotel, earning the moniker “the Hardboard Hotel”.

However, the last Provisional IRA bomb to damage the Europa was detonated in 1993, two years before President Clinton and his wife checked in for the night.

The last time the Europa underwent renovations because of bomb blast damage was in January 1994, 22 months before the presidential entourage booked 110 rooms at the hotel.

Mrs Clinton told assembled politicians at Stormont: “When Bill and I first came to Belfast we stayed at the Europa Hotel … even though then there were sections boarded up because of damage from bombs.”

If you’re keeping track, this is the second time in 12 years that Hillary has mis-spoken.
