Shocker. Chuck Turner Plays The Race Card; UPDATE: Turner Gets The Boot, Blames The Irish

SCROLL FOR UPDATES

The usual players of the race card are out in force trying to shame the Boston City Council into allowing Chuck Turner to keep his job.  Last month Turner was convicted in federal court of accepting a $1000 bribe in exchange for helping a Boston business man secure a liquor license.   As the City Council considers his fate he is playing the race card.

“Why would they go after a 67-year-old man except to shut my mouth?” Turner said yesterday. “This is all about the U.S. government trying to silence a black man who stood up for 44 years and spoke truth to power. And now the council is being asked to go along with the plot to silence me.”

Petitions to “keep Chuck Turner on Boston City Council and out of jail” have been posted on the leftist Web site RevLeft.com as well as the International Action Center, a New York-based social justice organization. Several city councilors have been bombarded with hundreds of e-mails from across the country.

“We think this is a huge political attack by the FBI,” said Edward Childs, a spokesman for the International Action Center’s Boston chapter. “This is a political attack on the civil rights movement in this country — no different than they did with Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and many others.”

Welcome to the post-racial world Obama’s election ushered in.

UPDATE: Turner has been expelled from the Boston City Council by a 11-1 vote.  And it’s all because of the Irish

The ethnically mixed council, which includes five members with Irish surnames, voted 11-to-1 on a motion by President Michael Ross to expel Turner, marking the first time the board has booted a member.

“Those Irish men and women forgot their history,” Turner bellowed outside City Hall last night, referring to the council. “James Michael Curley is ashamed of his descendants.”

Former Mayor Raymond L. Flynn took umbrage with Turner’s tirade, saying, “I’m a very proud Irish Catholic politician, and I am very disturbed with such a comparison. It’s completely unacceptable, and I’m sad that Mr. Turner . . . would make that statement. Nobody should use his name in their own defense because Jim Curley’s record stands out more so than anybody. Councilor Turner was misguided.”

State Rep. Eugene O’Flaherty, a Charlestown Democrat, said he didn’t take “personal offense” to Turner’s harangue but felt it was out of bounds.

“What I don’t understand is how anything about it could be directed at any one racial or ethnic group. That’s completely uncalled for,” O’Flaherty said.

Tell, me Superfly: What Irish man or woman was holding a gun to your head when you accepted $1000 from an FBI informant?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Please take a moment out of your day to remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who are thousands of miles from home while we enjoy the freedoms they continue to fight for on our behalf.

Yet Another ACORN Employee Convicted of Voter Fraud; 15th So Far This Year

Can we get to sweet sixteen before the end of the year?

Yet another former ACORN employee was convicted of voter fraud last week. This brings the total number of convictions for former workers from the embattled group to at least 15 so far this year.

Kevin L. Clancy of Milwaukee pleaded guilty last week to participating “in a scheme to submit fraudulent voter registration applications,” according to Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen. Clancy admitted to filing multiple voter registration applications for the same individuals and registering himself and other voter registration canvassers to vote multiple times while working on an ACORN voter drive.

Clancy received a 10-month prison term for his crime. Clancy’s sentence will begin when he completes another sentence he is currently serving for armed robbery.

“The integrity of elections is dependent upon citizens and officials insisting they be conducted lawfully,” Van Hollen said. “Wisconsin’s citizens should not have to wonder whether their vote has been negated or diminished by illegally cast ballots.”

No comment from ACORN’s most famous worker, the Community Organizer in Chief.

Your Tax Dollars At Work: MA Spends Millions Per Year On Chauffeur Driven Rides To Methadone Clinics

Not only is this Godforsaken state paying for methadone (synthetic heroin), but they are providing chauffeur driven Town Cars to the clinics.

BOSTON (CBS) — The state is strapped with a $2 billion budget deficit, yet it’s spending millions of dollars on chauffer driven rides to methadone clinics.

An I-Team investigation found that day in and day out, chauffeur driven livery cars make the trek to local methadone clinics with recovering heroin addicts and other drug users on board.

Most of the passengers are members of MassHealth, the state medical plan once known as Medicaid, and it is an expensive trip when there’s only one person in the passenger seat. Expensive for the taxpayers, that is, who are paying the fares.

“The word has got out now that MassHealth is pretty much a free taxi service,” said one professional driver who asked the I-Team to hide his identity.

“Why would you want to use your own gas and your own car when you can just call MassHealth and get a luxury ride to Boston in a Lincoln Town Car?” said the driver, who used to work for a livery service that contracts with the state.

“I found myself doing taxi work, basically picking up people and shuttling them down to Canal Street in a luxury vehicle,” the driver said. “I’ve done as many as five or six trips in a week and I’m just one person.”

Lovely.

Maureen Dowd’s Brother Rocks

It’s hard to believe Maureen Dowd and her brother, Kevin, came from the same womb.

She hands her column over to him today and it is a delight.

As a semichastened Barack Obama appeared at the press conference following the election, he conjured up the image of the curtain opening in “The Wizard of Oz,” revealing a little old man working the controls, not the great and powerful Oz.

The president had to wonder how this could happen in two short years. He must long for the days when the media routinely referred to him as “cerebral and brainy” (savvy was never mentioned) and salivated over “Michelle’s amazing arms.”

The voters left no doubt about their feeling for his super-nanny state where the government controls all aspects of their lives and freedoms. Warning signs were up in the three elections held in Massachusetts, Virginia and New Jersey and with the noisy birth of the Tea Party. But the president, swathed in the protective cocoon of adulation and affirmation from the media and his own sycophants, soldiered on in his determination to turn our country into just another member of the failed European union — France without the food.

Not only is he on the right side politically, but he is a much better writer.

Barney Frank Remains Bitter And Obnoxious In Victory Speech

How one handles defeat says a lot about a person.  How one handles victory says even more.  Barney Frank was his usual small, mean and bitter self in his victory speech last night.

A cranky U.S. Rep. Barney Frank blasted the Herald last night as “irrelevant,” even as surging Republicans grabbed control of the U.S. House and swept him from his lofty perch as chairman of the powerful financial services committee.

“With the re-election of the Massachusetts delegation and Gov. Deval Patrick, we can reaffirm the complete political irrelevance of the Boston Herald,” Frank told more than 100 supporters at the Crowne Plaza in Newton. “There is no limit to the bias and vitriol they unleashed.”

They say you get the government you vote for.  The people in Barney Frank’s district have made it clear that they want this porcine, obnoxious, pompous ass to represent them in Washington.

Update: Howie Carr reminds Barney that irrelevance awaits him on Capitol Hill.

You want to talk irrelevant? How about an over-the-hill back-bencher whose district is just crying out to be eliminated in the upcoming redistricting?

It’s November…Time To Remember

The day of reckoning has finally arrived.  Nationally, today is our day to send a very clear message to Obama and his Democrat pals in Washington.  Locally, today is our day to send a very clear message to Cadillac Deval and his corrupt, hack Democrat pals on Beacon Hill.

In case you had forgotten (as if) here are a few reasons to get out vote, courtesy of Moe Lane:

Now, some of you (more of you, I suspect, than are willing to admit it) read the paragraph above, read the article that it links to, and then started to feel… pity.  Or empathy, because it happened to you in 2006 and 2008.  Or merely a natural desire to not kick someone when they are down.  And those are laudable impulses to have.  But before you act on those impulses with regard to these professional Democrats, please remember this:

  • These people told their clients to say that you hate African-Americans.
  • These people told their clients to say that you hate Latinos.
  • These people told their clients to say that you hate gays.
  • These people told their clients to say that you hate women.
  • These people told their clients to say that you hate Jews.
  • These people told their clients to say that you hate Muslims.
  • These people told their clients to say that you hate the poor.
  • These people told their clients to say that you hate America.

Shall I continue?

  • These people told their clients to say that you were fascists.
  • These people told their clients to say that you were theocrats.
  • These people told their clients to say that you were stupid.
  • These people told their clients to say that you were uneducated.
  • These people told their clients to say that you were hatemongers.
  • These people told their clients to say that you were insane.
  • These people told their clients to say that you were violent extremists.

I can keep this going for quite a while, you know.

  • These people told their clients to call you unpatriotic.
  • These people told their clients to call you cowards.
  • These people told their clients to mock you at every opportunity.
  • These people told their clients to deliberately use a sexual slur when referring to you.
  • These people told their clients to trivialize and dismiss your concerns at every opportunity.

And now these professional Democrats are sad because they’re going to lose.  Well, they deserve to lose.  Because they’re bad people.  And because the entire point of the United States of America is to make sure that bad people lose.  So go vote on Tuesday, and make as many bad people as possible lose.

Locally, how can anyone forget Deval’s Cadillac, his $10,000 drapes, his wife’s social secretary, the doling out of six figure jobs  to his Milton neighbors, the attempt to plant a hack pol pal into a six figure job which had been vacant for twelve years, his broken promise to lower your property taxes, his broken promise to hire 1000 new police officers, his dismantling of the program that allows State Troopers to work with ICE to enforce our nation’s immigration laws, his support of drivers’ licenses for illegals, his support of in-state tuition for illegals, the refusal to let the citizens of Massachusetts vote on marriage, the 25% increase on the sales tax to 6.25% – including already taxed alcohol – and all the while local aid has been cut and your taxes keep going up.

It’s finally November…it’s time to remember.
