Karma’s a bitch.
WASHINGTON — Prosecutors can seek an indictment against former North Carolina Senator and two-time Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards for allegedly using campaign donations to cover up an extra-marital affair and love child, ABC News reported late Tuesday.
The network, citing sources, said the Department of Justice has given the go-ahead for Edwards to be prosecuted and the former politician has been informed of the development.
Edwards may now accept a plea deal or face trial.
Edwards, 57, has been the target of a lengthy federal grand jury investigation into allegations of campaign violations related to his relationship with mistress Rielle Hunter.
Updates in bold.
The corrupt apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
In case you missed it, the White House banned the Boston Herald from full access to Obama’s fundraiser in Boston today because the Herald ran an op-ed by Mitt Romney on its front page on the same day of the Messiah’s visit here back in March.
The White House Press Office has refused to give the Boston Herald full access to President Obama’s Boston fund-raiser today, in e-mails objecting to the newspaper’s front page placement of a Mitt Romney op-ed, saying pool reporters are chosen based on whether they cover the news “fairly.”
“I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters,” White House spokesman Matt Lehrich wrote in response to a Herald request for full access to the presidential visit.
Howie Carr, a Herald columnist, was livid and went ballistic on his radio show today.
Watch Howie’s rant here.
Makes you wonder what Obama’s internal poll numbers are showing in a matchup with Mitt, doesn’t it?
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell sides with the Herald. No, your eyes are not deceiving you.
O’DONNELL: The Herald says it made a request to send a pool reporter to today’s events. Pool reporters provide information to the rest of the media when there’s limited access at a press event. The Herald said in turning down their request, White House spokesman Matt Lehrich mentioned the Romney op-ed from the last time President Obama was in town. Lehrich’s email to the Herald said in broken English, “I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters.” Good luck trying to diagram that sentence. “My point about the op-ed was not that you ran it but that it was the full front page which excluded any coverage of the visit of a sitting President of the United States to Boston. I think that raises a fair question about whether the paper is unbiased in its coverage of the President’s visits.”
Okay, White House, let’s get something straight here: The Boston Herald is not unbiased. Let’s get something else straight: The Boston Globe is not unbiased. The New York Times is not unbiased. The Washington Post is not unbiased. There are now maybe no more than ten cities left in America that have more than one newspaper. Boston is one of those lucky cities. The Boston Globe, the dominant paper in the region, likes you guys in the Obama White House. The Boston Herald doesn’t like you. Get used to it. And understand that the Herald can do you no harm. You won Massachusetts by nearly 26 points. You are going to win Massachusetts again no matter what the Herald says about you. If the Herald had the power to change minds in Massachusetts, John Kerry would not be a senator and Deval Patrick would not be a governor.
You know you’ve really stepped in it when you have the likes of Lawrence O’Donnell calling out your stupidity.

Declaring “justice has been done,” President Obama announced late Sunday that Usama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces in Pakistan, marking the end of the worldwide manhunt that began nearly a decade ago on Sept. 11, 2001.
The president made the stunning announcement within hours of informing congressional leaders. He said bin Laden was killed Sunday, the culmination of years of intelligence gathering. The news drew a large crowd to the front of the White House, as well as in Times Square, as people chanted “USA. USA.”
Rot. In. Hell.
I’ve opined for some time that there were two possible reasons for Obama’s refusal to release his long form birth certificate. One of my possible theories was that his religion was listed as Muslim which could have lost him the election. The other theory (shared by many) was that there was absolutely nothing damaging on the long form, but the Obama camp decided early on that instead of releasing it, they would keep it embargoed to shoot down those who questioned his citizenship and label them racists and kooks. But then came along The Donald. Obama and his staff quickly lost control of the narrative and Americans who are already unhappy with his handling of everything from gas prices to Lybia had a daily dose of Trump on the airwaives raising the question of his citizenship over and over again. With his poll numbers tanking, Obama could not afford this heading into the 2012 election cycle.
Of course Obama couldn’t resist scolding us for daring to raise the question while he has hard work to do. Like playing golf and taking vacations.
It must have killed the rump swabs at the New York Times to print these poll results.
At a time of rising gas prices, stubborn unemployment and a cacophonous debate in Washington over the federal government’s ability to meet its future obligations, the poll presents stark evidence that the slow, if unsteady, gains in public confidence earlier this year that a recovery was under way are now all but gone.
Capturing what appears to be an abrupt change in attitude, the survey shows that the number of Americans who think the economy is getting worse has jumped 13 percentage points in just one month. Though there have been encouraging signs of renewed growth since last fall, many economists are having second thoughts, warning that the pace of expansion might not be fast enough to create significant numbers of new jobs.
The dour public mood is dragging down ratings for both parties in Congress and for President Obama, the poll found.
Disapproval of Mr. Obama’s handling of the economy has never been worse — up to 57 percent of Americans — a warning sign as he begins to set his sights on re-election in 2012. And a similar percentage disapprove of how Mr. Obama is handling the federal budget deficit, though more disapprove of the way Republicans in Congress are.
The Times doesn’t even mention the most devastating number for Obama – Right Track/Wrong Track. It must have been too painful:
Right Track = 26%
Wrong Track = 70%
Say it with me….Malaise.
From her taxpayer-funded digs, Auntie Z. railed against Donald Trump for questioning her nephew’s place of birth.
From her home in South Boston, filled with pictures of her Mother and President Obama, his 58-year-old aunt says Trump’s accusations are bringing ridicule to her family back in Kenya. She described the billionaire’s words as degrading and hurtful.
“When you are doing politics you should leave the family aside,” said Onyango.
The President’s aunt says when she was a girl in Kenya in 1961, the President’s father, her brother, sent the family a letter announcing the birth of his son, the future President. She says the letter came from Hawaii.
“My brother was telling my mother how happy he was he had another baby boy on the other side,” said Onyango.
She now has strong words for Trump.
“I respect his wealth, but I only demand him to respect us,” said Onyango.
Onyango says she hopes her message gets to Trump.
“And I challenge him. Let him call me and we’ll talk,” said Onyango. “Let him come and ask me.”
I’m sure he’ll get right on that.
Trustafarians always balk when it’s time to put their money where their mouths are. Howie Carr lays it all out as only he can in his column today.
Your average liberal would give an illegal alien the shirt off your back. Not his back, but your back. Just ask them. They sit in Starbucks and angrily blog about how AmeriKKKans who work don’t pay their “fair share.”
They harrumph, what about the children?
So far this tax season, the state Department of Revenue has received 1,971,000 returns.
And of those 1.971 million filers, exactly 862 have checked the box to pay at the old, higher 5.85 percent rate rather than the current 5.3 percent rate.
Of course, this is an old tradition in Massachusetts, liberals running up the tab and then when the check arrives — hey, come back here you ponytailed carpetbagger! They play the political equivalent of the old chew ’n’ screw. And I don’t just mean their heroes, such as Sen. John Kerry, with his $7 million yacht, the SS Deadbeat. Or the assorted state solons loading up on booze and smokes in tax-free New Hampshire.
We already know the most liberal states contribute the least to charity per capita. The louder the liberals talk about the need to pay more, the faster they flee from helping out the most vulnerable members of society who fell through the safety net shredded by George W. Bush, etc. etc.
But . . . but . . . we all know that with their trust funds and their no-heavy-lifting jobs at the colleges and the Globe and WGBH, most moonbats are living high on the hog. So maybe these 862 people are coughing up big bucks.
Guess again. Those 862 people ponied up an extra $69,188. That works out to about $80 per person, which means their average income is . . . $16,000.
I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning.
