On November 15th, while Americans were being subjected to being groped by TSA agents and/or body scans, a North Carolina teen made his way onto the tarmac at the Charlotte airport and climbed into the wheel well of US Air jet. He later plunged to his death, landing in a quiet Milton, Massachusetts neighborhood.
The grieving mother of a North Carolina teen — who “likely” plummeted from the sky over Milton after toppling out of a Boeing 737 wheel well — slammed airport security last night, saying her boy should have been stopped on the tarmac.
“I thought that after 9/11 there would be more security, especially on the ground,” said Jonette Washington, mother of 16-year-old Delvonte Tisdale.
“He was a good kid. He wasn’t really going to Boston. He was trying to get to Baltimore to get to me,” she tearfully told the Herald.
In a stunning announcement, Norfolk District Attorney William R. Keating said yesterday it’s “likely” the teen climbed into a wheel well of a jet in Charlotte, N.C., on Nov. 15 and fell to his death over Milton at about 9 p.m. Keating said a neighbor heard “a loud crashing noise” around that time.
Imagine what could have happened if it had been a terrorist who had climbed into that wheel well and not just a messed up teenager? It’s a good thing we’re groping nuns and toddlers at airports, huh?
I guess Barry & Co. were too busy forcing ObamaCare on us to thoroughly vet yet another nominee.
President Obama’s choice to lead the agency that guards United States airports abruptly withdrew his nomination on Friday night amid questions about his work as a defense contractor, the second time the White House has lost a nominee for the critical security post.
Maj. Gen. Robert A. Harding, a retired Army intelligence officer, was selected to take over the Transportation Security Administration, or T.S.A., just two and a half weeks ago, following the withdrawal of Mr. Obama’s first pick under fire.
But it was his work after the military that drew scrutiny. His firm, Harding Security Associates, provided intelligence debriefers in Iraq, but after the government ended a $49.2 million contract early in 2004, an audit found that the firm received an overpayment and collected more money for termination costs than it should have.
The audit questioned $2.4 million of the $6 million actually paid to the firm, according to Senator Susan Collins of Maine, the senior Republican on the Homeland Security Committee. In the end, General Harding told the committee Thursday that his firm was forced to refund $1.8 million in a negotiated settlement in 2008.
Can you imagine the shrieking had George W. Bush picked the head of Haliburton to run the TSA? This guy wasn’t even a blip on the radar until his $1.8 million dollar “accounting error” was discovered.
That is the question that Democrats on the Homeland Security Committee were asking when she was a no-show for Wednesday’s hearing on the Christmas Day Bomber. If they were ticked off off at the hearing, imagine their reaction when they saw her putting the nap in Napolitano at the State of the Union that very night?
Top Democrats on the House Homeland Security Committee publicly scolded Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for failing to show up at a Wednesday hearing where the committee examined the attempted Christmas Day suicide bombing of Northwest Flight 253. One Democrat on the committee said he wanted to know “where the hell” Napolitano was.
That evening, Napolitiano [sic] did prominently show up at the Capitol to attend President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address. But earlier in the day, she dispatched Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Jane Holl Lute to testify on her behalf in the Homeland Security Committee on what went wrong in the homeland-security process that allowed would-be suicide-bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to board a plane bound from Amsterdam to the Detroit.
The committee has primary oversight over Napolitano’s department, and top Democrats on the panel made it clear they were angry that she failed to show up for such an important hearing.
She is Obama’s very own man-caused disaster.
