It Begins: Insurance Companies Pushing Plans Which Limit Choice Of Doctors

More evidence that you can tell if Obama is lying by whether his lips are moving.

As the Obama administration begins to enact the new national health care law, the country’s biggest insurers are promoting affordable plans with reduced premiums that require participants to use a narrower selection of doctors or hospitals.

The plans, being tested in places like San Diego, New York and Chicago, are likely to appeal especially to small businesses that already provide insurance to their employees, but are concerned about the ever-spiraling cost of coverage.

But large employers, as well, are starting to show some interest, and insurers and consultants expect that, over time, businesses of all sizes will gravitate toward these plans in an effort to cut costs.

The tradeoff, they say, is that more Americans will be asked to pay higher prices for the privilege of choosing or keeping their own doctors if they are outside the new networks. That could come as a surprise to many who remember the repeated assurances from President Obama and other officials that consumers would retain a variety of health-care choices.

But companies may be able to reduce their premiums by as much as 15 percent, the insurers say, by offering the more limited plans.

“What we’re seeing is a definite uptick in interest because, quite frankly, affordability is the most pressing agenda item,” said Dr. Sam Ho, the chief medical officer for UnitedHealth’s health-care plans.

Of course this will be parsed by Barry & Co. who will say you can keep your plan and doctor, you just have to pay more for it.

You Lie! Obama Admin Will Not Rule Out Denying Insurance Due To Pre-Existing Conditions

You heard it ad nauseum from Barry & Co.:  Under Obamacare, for the first time in the history of the universe, the eeevil health insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage to Americans with pre-existing medical conditions.

As it turns out, it was just another Obama-ism (that would be a lie).

The Obama administration has not ruled out turning sick people away from an insurance program created by the new healthcare law to provide coverage for the uninsured.

Critics of the $5 billion high-risk pool program insist it will run out of money before Jan. 1, 2014. That’s when the program sunsets and health plans can no longer discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions.

Administration officials insist they can make changes to the program to ensure it lasts until 2014, and that it may not have to turn away sick people. Officials said the administration could also consider reducing benefits under the program, or redistributing funds between state pools. But they acknowledged turning some people away was also a possibility.

VFW Leaders Outraged At Blumenthal’s Vietnam Lies, Use of VFW Hall For Presser

Holding the press conference in a VFW hall was his first mistake.  Not owning up to his lies was his second.  Having another Vietnam imposter standing behind him was the pies de resistance.

The commander of Connecticut’s Veterans of Foreign Wars organization blasted Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal Tuesday, referring to his prior statements of service in Vietnam as “outrageous.”

“Mr. Blumenthal was considered one of the best friends a veteran could have in Connecticut. It is a true shame that he let a false claim of Vietnam service change that,” said Richard DiFederico, in a statement. “Those who served in uniform during the Vietnam era also deserve our gratitude, which makes Mr. Blumenthal’s claim to be something he is not so outrageous.”

DiFederico’s statement came after Blumenthal’s dramatic and defiant press conference Tuesday at a VFW hall in West Hartford, an event which took place in response to a New York Times report that the Connecticut attorney general had on more than one occasion said he had served in Vietnam, although his time in the Marine Corps Reserve was in fact spent in Washington and Connecticut.

Blumenthal is not a member of the VFW, and national leaders noted that he wouldn’t meet the eligibility requirement if he tried to join because he didn’t actually serve in a theatre of combat. The group’s bylaws also do not allow any level of the organization to endorse political candidates.

Jerry Newberry, the director of communications at the VFW’s Kansas City headquarters, said that the national leadership “did not sanction and was not, in fact, aware that the press conference was going to be held at a VFW Post.”

“This decision was made at the Post level,” he told POLITICO in an email.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that having this guy (second from right) appear behind him can’t be helpful:

The POW HALL OF SHAME winner, William Joseph Trumpower, is second from the right.

POW Network.org reported on Trumpower earlier:

What is it with Democrats lying about their service in Vietnam?

Most Verbose President Evah Takes 17 Minutes To Dodge ObamaCare Question

We all know the drill.  When Barry is asked an uncomfortable question he either flat out lies or he blathers endlessly to eat up time with what he believes to be his brilliant words.  A North Carolina woman was the victim of the latter yesterday when she queried the Obfuscator In Chief about the taxes included in ObamaCare.

“We are overtaxed as it is,” Doris said bluntly.

Obama started out feisty. “Well, let’s talk about that, because this is an area where there’s been just a whole lot of misinformation, and I’m going to have to work hard over the next several months to clean up a lot of the misapprehensions that people have,” the president said.

He then spent the next 17 minutes and 12 seconds lulling the crowd into a daze. His discursive answer — more than 2,500 words long — wandered from topic to topic, including commentary on the deficit, pay-as-you-go rules passed by Congress, Congressional Budget Office reports on Medicare waste, COBRA coverage, the Recovery Act and Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (he referred to this last item by its inside-the-Beltway name, “F-Map”). He talked about the notion of eliminating foreign aid (not worth it, he said). He invoked Warren Buffett, earmarks and the payroll tax that funds Medicare (referring to it, in fluent Washington lingo, as “FICA”).

[…]

Halfway through, an audience member on the riser yawned.

But Obama wasn’t finished. He had a “final point,” before starting again with another list — of three points.

“What we said is, number one, we’ll have the basic principle that everybody gets coverage,” he said, before launching into the next two points, for a grand total of seven.

It was not evident that he changed any minds at Friday’s event. The audience sat politely, but people in the back of the room began to wander off.

Blah blah blah.

About That Coverage For Children With Pre-Existing Conditions…

It doesn’t kick in until 2014.

The Obama administration is scrambling to fix a potential problem with a much-touted benefit of its new health care law, a gap in coverage improvements for children in poor health, officials said Tuesday.

Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill President Barack Obama signed into law Tuesday.

However, if a child is accepted for coverage, or is already covered, the insurer cannot exclude payment for treating a particular illness, as sometimes happens now. For example, if a child has asthma, the insurance company cannot write a policy that excludes that condition from coverage. The new safeguard will be in place later this year.

In recent speeches, Obama has given the impression that the immediate benefit for kids is much more robust.

Full protection for children would not come until 2014, said Kate Cyrul, a spokeswoman for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, another panel that authored the legislation. That’s the same year when insurance companies could no longer deny coverage to any person on account of health problems.

Obama’s public statements conveyed the impression that the new protections for kids were sweeping and straightforward.

That’s a nice way of saying he lied.  In other words, his lips were moving.

The Doc Fix Is In: CBO Declares ObamaCare Will Add To Deficit When Scored With Increased Medicare Payment Rates

CBO admitted this in respone to a letter from Paul Ryan which asked them to score the Senate version and the House reconciliation version (ObamaCare) alongside the increase in Medicare payments (Doc Fix) in that bill.

When scored together, the bill will add $59 BILLION to the deficit.

In response to a question from Paul Ryan (as Kathryn notes below), the CBO has now priced out the cost of the Democrats’ health-bill (including the reconciliation bill), together with the cost of the permanent “doc fix” they have proposed. CBO writes: “enacting all three pieces of legislation would add $59 billion to budget deficits over the 2010–2019 period.” That, of course, is without even accounting for all the other gimmicks, empty promises, and implausible offsets in the .Democrats’ bill.

Together with all those gimmicks, keeping the “doc fix” separate from the health-care bills they are getting ready to vote on was key to allowing the Democrats to get a CBO score that seemed to keep the bill from raising the deficit.

Shocka.

AP: Actually, Premiums Will Go Up Under ObamaCare

No, your eyes are not deceiving you.  The Associated Press (!!!) is calling Barry out on one of his many lies about ObamaCare.

WASHINGTON — Buyers, beware: President Barack Obama says his health care overhaul will lower premiums by double digits, but check the fine print.

Premiums are likely to keep going up even if the health care bill passes, experts say. If cost controls work as advertised, annual increases would level off with time. But don’t look for a rollback. Instead, the main reason premiums would be more affordable is that new government tax credits would help cover the cost for millions of people.

Listening to Obama pitch his plan, you might not realize that’s how it works.

Visiting a Cleveland suburb this week, the president described how individuals and small businesses will be able to buy coverage in a new kind of health insurance marketplace, gaining the same strength in numbers that federal employees have.

“You’ll be able to buy in, or a small business will be able to buy into this pool,” Obama said. “And that will lower rates, it’s estimated, by up to 14 to 20 percent over what you’re currently getting. That’s money out of pocket.”

Nooo, that is an outright lie and even the Associated Press is calling you out on it.  But we all know that little things like facts don’t get in Barry’s way when it comes to talking up his goal to take over the best health care system on the planet in his quest to reshape America into a country that resembles Cuba.

You Lie! Obama “agnostic” On Raising Taxes For Those Who Earn Over $250,000

On the campaign trial, Obama repeatedly made the promise that nobody making less than $250,ooo would see their taxes go up “a single dime.”   Now he’s backing off the promise.  Shocka.

President Obama says he will be “agnostic” about whatever his reduce-the-federal-debt commission recommends — including the idea of higher taxes for households making less than $250,000 a year.

“What I want to do is to be completely agnostic in terms of solutions,” Obama told Bloomberg Business Week in interview excerpts released today. “I want everybody to sit down and work off of a common base of facts.”

The question dealt specifically with households making less than $250,000; Obama promised during his presidential campaign not to raise taxes on that group.

Read my lips, Barry:  YOU LIE!
