John F-ing Kerry Disses Tea Party Candidates, Sarah Palin

Yesterday, John Kerry took some time off from cruising on his $7 million dollar yacht to send out a fund-raising email bashing the Tea Party and Sarah Palin.

U.S. Sen. John Kerry yesterday mocked Republicans as “Sarah Palin’s party” even as the New Hampshire Senate candidate she backed claimed victory in Tuesday’s primary and a Tea Party favorite emerged as the GOP’s best hope to break the Democratic stranglehold on the Bay State delegation.

“I think the Tea Party couldn’t ask for any better publicity than to be denounced by a millionaire who dodges paying taxes on his yacht,” said conservative gadfly Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit.

Kerry seized on a Republican rift following Tea Party victories across the country – among them, Palin’s “chosen radical rightwing candidate” GOP U.S. Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell, who triumphed in Delaware over establishment Republican Mike Castle.

“The news from Delaware is crystal clear: It’s Sarah Palin’s party now,” Kerry wrote in a fund-raising e-mail titled “Delawow!” distributed yesterday. “We have to fight back. Click here to contribute right now to make sure we defeat the Tea Party extremists.”

But conservative Washington observers said Republicans will get the last laugh come November.

“Kerry is the guy whose political instincts are always wrong. This guy’s presidential campaign was a punch line,” Reynolds said. “To call the Tea Party extremists is a joke.”

GOP analysts reveled in big conservative wins Tuesday, including Kelly Ayotte – graced by Palin with one of her coveted “mama grizzly” endorsements – who snatched a primary victory over Tea Party favorite Ovide Lamontagne.

Among GOP challengers to the Bay State’s all-Democrat congressional delegation, Republican state Rep. Jeff Perry – beloved by local Tea Partiers – is given more than a fighting chance of winning the seat being vacated by Democratic U.S. Rep. William Delahunt.

How inspiring.  If the Democrats are relying on Captain Botched Joke to rally the troops, then they are in even worse shape than we thought.   Keep it up, Dems.  Pretty please.

Boston Globe Lectures Massachusetts Rubes For Shopping In Tax Free New Hampshire

In this snide editorial, the Boston Globe looks down its nose at the misguided, unenlightened Massachusetts citizens who cross the border to take advantage of tax free shopping.

While it’s not surprising to hear of Massachusetts consumers buying TVs and other big-ticket taxable items in New Hampshire, a Methuen resident told a reporter that she also buys her groceries north of the border. Meanwhile, one South Boston resident said that “I just went up there [to New Hampshire] to buy a pair of running shoes last week because I just wasn’t willing to pay the taxes.’’ But wait a minute. The first $175 of the price of clothing items, including running shoes, is tax-free in Massachusetts. So are grocery items.

WRONG.  Not all grocery items are tax free.  If you can’t eat it, it’s not tax free.  Cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, paper products, soda (deposit), floral items etc. are all taxable.  So that Methuen resident is actually saving a bundle when she buys her groceries in New Hampshire.  And some sneakers do cost more than $175 so perhaps this Southie resident was splurging.

And don’t you silly rubes know that some New Hampshire towns have higher property taxes than yours?

Many New Hampshire towns have higher property taxes than their Massachusetts counterparts; others skimp on municipal services. In Massachusetts, the sales tax hike prevented deeper cuts to vital human services and to public schools that are, by many measures, the nation’s best.

I wonder if they were promised lower property taxes by their governor only to see them increase every year since he took office?

Finally, you ungrateful bumpkins should be thankful that there isn’t a tax on food or clothing.

At least Massachusetts has exempted the necessities of life from the sales tax. Political statements aside, there is no financial reason to burn the gasoline and time necessary to buy them elsewhere.

Not only are you misguided, but you are killing the polar bears while shopping tax-free.

This illustrates perfectly the disconnect between the bow-tie wearing, chardonnay sipping Globe editorial board and those of us who are struggling to make ends meet and find the recent 25% increase in the sales tax so odious or so burdensome that we are willing to drive north to save money – even if it is only a few dollars.  It is lectures such as this that make people more apt to get in the cars and leave Massachusetts retailers in their dust.

Hack Alert! Dem MA Rep Spotted Loading Booze Into His Car At NH Liquor Store

And not just any car – his Crown Vic with State House Plates.

A Westport lawmaker who voted to hike the state sales and alcohol taxes was spotted brazenly piling booze in his car – adorned with his State House license plate – in the parking lot of a tax-free New Hampshire liquor store, the Herald has learned.

Michael J. Rodrigues’ blue Ford Crown Victoria, emblazoned with his “House 29” Massachusetts license plate, was parked outside a Granite State liquor store on Interstate-95 South over the weekend, according to a witness who provided a60fe821af_Hack_09022009pictures to the Herald.

The witness, who requested anonymity, claimed he approached Rodrigues, noted his State House plate, and asked if he was on personal or official business. Rodrigues, who was loading booze into his car, snapped “mind your own business,” the witness said.

What a maroon.

Community Organizer In Chief Is Coming to New Hampshire, Protests Expected

President Obama will be in Portsmouth, NH this afternoon to hold a kabuki theater town hall meeting on health care.  While he conducts his contrived Q&A inside the high school, huge protests are planned for those who will be shut out of the event.  The NH Republican Volunteer Coalition and the Tea Party Coalition are encouraging people to show up to let their voices be heard:

“There will be news media from all over the world at this event and it will be the ideal opportunity for us to tell the rest of the country exactly how N.H. voters feel about Obamacare (taxed/rationed healthcare). It will be the most important pro-liberty event of the year in N.H. and it is critically important that every one of us attend,’’ the coalition said in a call-to-arms invitation obtained by NBC News.

The AFL-CIO is sending in the pinky rings:

The AFL-CIO, which supports the Democratic healthcare bills, plans a counter-protest outside the town hall. “New Hampshire workers desperately need major healthcare reform and we will not let our voices be silenced by the corporate-funded mobs on the other side,’’ state AFL-CIO president Mark MacKenzie said in a statement.

It should be quite a scene and I am going to do everything in my power to be there and will be sure to take plenty of photos.
