Shocka. Deval Patrick Supports NYC Mosque

Color me unsurprised.  This is the same fool who called the 9/11 attacks “a failure of human understanding” – on the anniversary of Islamic terrorists murdering 3,000 of his fellow citizens.

“The sooner we separate the peaceful teaching of Islam from the behavior of terrorists, the better for all of us,’’ Patrick said on WTKK-FM 96.9.

The 15-story mosque and cultural center are poised for approval after the New York City Landmarks Commission refused Tuesday to block redevelopment of the site.

“It’s poor taste to put it where they’re putting it,’’ said C. Lee Hanson of Easton, Conn., whose son, Peter, daughter-in-law, Sue Kim, and 2-year-old granddaughter, Christine Lee, all of Groton, died on United Airlines Flight 175. “They should just build it a mile away. There would be no problems.’’

The issue has caused bitter divisions in New York and has provoked strong emotions in Massachusetts, where the two planes involved in the attacks took off. Some local families of victims of the attacks have embraced the proposal for a mosque in Lower Manhattan as a symbol of religious tolerance, while others consider it unthinkably insensitive.

Remember in November, Mass readers.

Racist FBI & ICE Agents Arrest Illegal Immigrants In Connection With Times Square Bomb Plot

Deval Patrick looks like a bigger dunce than usual today.  It was just two days ago that he accused supporters of the Arizona immigration law as “trying to invent a villain for political purposes.’’  Today, three (Amish?) men were taken into custody on immigration violations in connection with the failed Times Square bombing – in his own backyard.

Three men were taken into custody on immigration violations today after raids in Watertown, Brookline and other parts of the Northeast in connection with the attempted May 1 Times Square bombing, according to the FBI and state officials.

One suspect arrested in the Bay State today had previously been ordered out of the country, a federal source tells the Herald.

FBI Boston Special Agent Gail Marcinkiewicz confirmed today’s sweep is linked to the failed bombing in bustling Times Square.

Someone may want alert Marsha Coakley as just the other day she told a local radio host that “Technically, it is not illegal to be illegal in Massachusetts.”  ICE and the FBI must have missed that memo.

Breaking: NYC Bound Bus Evacuated In NH After Suspicious Device Reported

This is unfolding in downtown Portsmouth, NH – an area near and dear to my heart.

All passengers but one have left a bus at the center of a bomb scare in Portsmouth, and the police are speaking with the remaining one.

Police said the incident involved a Greyhound bus that was en route from Portland, Maine, to Boston and then on to New York. A passenger alerted the bus driver that a suspicious device may be on the bus, and the bus driver was able to pull over and get off to call for help. Portsmouth, and the police are speaking with the remaining one.

[…]

The 17 passengers remained on board, but police said they had not been told to stay on the bus, and they weren’t sure why no one else had come off.

About two hours after the bus was stopped, the passengers finally began to get off. They exited the bus with their hands over their heads and walked down the street until they were met by what appeared to be a SWAT officer.

At least two people were led away from the area in handcuffs, but police were not calling them suspects. A passenger was also still on the bus and was being questioned.

This situation is fluid and I don’t want to see Janet Incompetano’s mug on my TV later telling me this is a “lone wolf” or a “one off” before the facts are known.

Suspect In Custody In Times Square Bombing Attempt

Faisal Shahzad was removed from a flight bound for Dubai late last night.

Federal agents and police detectives arrested a Connecticut man, a naturalized United States citizen from Pakistan, early Tuesday in connection with the failed Times Square car bombing, according to people briefed on the investigation.

The man, Faisal Shahzad, was believed to have recently bought the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder that was found loaded with gasoline, propane, fireworks and fertilizer in the heart of Times Square, one of the people briefed on the development said.

Mr. Shahzad was taken into custody at Kennedy Airport, apparently trying to flee, one of the people said. Charges against Mr. Shahzad, who had returned recently from a trip to Pakistan, were not announced.

There goes Janet Incompetano’s “one off” theory…this has all the makings of a larger plot.

Update: Family members and a friend of Shahzad have been arrested in Pakistan

Pakistan on Tuesday arrested several relatives of the Pakistani-American held in New York on suspicion of driving a bomb-laden car into Times Square, security sources said.

Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Pakistan, told U.S. authorities he acted alone in Saturday’s failed bombing but skeptical investigators are looking into his recent trip to Pakistan, a U.S. law enforcement source said.

Shahzad, 30, was arrested late on Monday night after he was taken off an Emirates airline plane that was just about to take off for Dubai. Hours later, several relatives and a friend were arrested in Pakistan. [ID:nSGE6430EA]

“We have picked up a few family members” related to Shahzad, a security official in Karachi said. A friend of Shahzad was also detained.

Shahzad is from the disputed Kashmiri region but it is not known if he was affiliated with any militant group, a source familiar with the investigation said on Tuesday. The source asked not to be named because the issue is sensitive.

Obama: We Won’t Use Nukes When [insert scenario here]

Why in God’s name would he want to tell our enemies when we won’t use nukes?  But don’t worry, there are “outliers.”

President Obama said Monday that he was revamping American nuclear strategy to substantially narrow the conditions under which the United States would use nuclear weapons, even in self defense.

But the president said in an interview that he was carving out an exception for “outliers like Iran and North Korea” that have violated or renounced the main treaty to halt nuclear proliferation.

Discussing his approach to nuclear security the day before formally releasing his new strategy, Mr. Obama described his policy as part of a broader effort to edge the world toward making nuclear weapons obsolete, and to create incentives for countries to give up any nuclear ambitions. To set an example, the new strategy renounces the development of any new nuclear weapons, overruling the initial position of his own defense secretary.

Mr. Obama’s strategy is a sharp shift from those adopted by his predecessors and seeks to revamp the nation’s nuclear posture for a new age in which rogue states and terrorist organizations are greater threats than traditional powers like Russia and China.

[…]

White House officials said that the new strategy will leave open the option of reconsidering the use of nuclear retaliation against a biological attack, if the development of such weapons reaches a level that makes United States vulnerable to a devastating strike.

How big of him.

Obama Admin’s Brennan: Criticizing Us Is Serving The Goals Of Al Queda

Brennan makes this statement in his whiny USA  Today op/ed in which he attempts to defend the indefensible regarding the Obama administrations’ handling of the Christmas Day Bomber and other counterterrorism policies.

In an oped in USA Today, John Brennan — Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism — responds to critics of the Obama administration’s counterterrorism policies by saying “Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda.”

Brennan writes that, “Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill.”

In the oped, titled “‘We need no lectures’: Administration disrupts terrorists’ plots, takes fight to them abroad,” Brennan writes that politics “should never get in the way of national security. But too many in Washington are now misrepresenting the facts to score political points, instead of coming together to keep us safe.”

The administration op-ed is in response to a USA Today editorial entitled “National security team fails to inspire confidence; Officials’ handling of Christmas Day attack looks like amateur hour.”

Brennan provides a detailed defense of the administration’s handling of failed Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab whom, he says, was “thoroughly interrogated and provided important information.”

He suggests that many critics are hypocritical and clueless.

The most important breakthrough in the interrogation occurred “after Abdulmutallab was read his rights, which the FBI made standard policy under Michael Mukasey, President Bush’s attorney general,” he writes, noting that failed shoe bomber Richard Reid “was read his Miranda rights five minutes after being taken off a plane he tried to blow up. The same people who criticize the president today were silent back then.”

Brennan said anyone who wants to change the policy would be casting aside lessons learned “in waging this war” on extremists.

So let me get this straight.  If we criticize Barry’s handling of terrorism we are helping Al Qaeda?  But I thought we have a right to question “any adminstration”, no?  At least that’s what Shrillary told us back in 2003.

Brennan, Gibbs, Axelrod and Barry himself can try to spin this all they want, but it does not change the undisputed fact that Americans do not want terrorists to be granted Constitutional rights such as Miranda, do not want terrorists tried in civilian courts, do not want Gitmo closed and do not want their president to sit down and chat it up with heads of states that sponsor terror and want to wipe Israel off the map.  Just ask Senator* Scott Brown.

George Mitchell: Fatah Believes in Nonviolence

Right.  And the Patriots were awesome today.

Noah Pollack takes us on a trip down memory lane and sets the record straight.

One more item from Obama Mideast envoy George Mitchell’s appearance on the Charlie Rose show (transcript here). Mitchell said:

Well, that’s the principal difference between Fatah and Hamas. The Palestinian authority which is basically the Fatah party, believes in nonviolence and negotiation.

This is silly stuff. Fatah, of course, proudly maintains terrorist groups, such as the Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades and the Tanzim militia, within the party structure. The gunmen who murdered an Israeli rabbi two weeks ago were not just members of Fatah but also on the Fatah payroll. Just last week, the heroically moderate president and prime minister of the PA could be seen publicly celebrating Fatah terrorists and acts of terrorism.

At the opening of the Fatah party conference in Bethlehem last summer, “Fatah leaders responded with loud applause when two terrorists who committed the worst terror attack in Israel’s history were referred to as ‘heroic Martyrs’ by former PA Prime Minister Abu Alaa.” Jibril Rajoub, a senior member of the party, declared that “resistance was and is a tactical and strategic option of the struggle.”

Clenched fists and all that jazz.

Al-Qaeda(?) Terrorist Attempts To Blow Up Airliner, Subdued By Hero Passengers…Updated With Photo Of Suspect…Update: Plot Launched By AQ In Yemen

A Christmas miracle in the skies over Detroit.

ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) — An attempted terrorist attack on a Christmas Day flight began with a pop and a puff of smoke — sending passengers scrambling to subdue a Nigerian man who claimed to be acting on orders from al-Qaeda to blow up the airliner, officials and travelers said. The commotion began as Northwest Airlines Flight 253, carrying 278 passengers and 11 crewmembers from Amsterdam, prepared to land in Detroit just before noon Friday.

“It sounded like a firecracker in a pillowcase,” said Peter Smith, a passenger from the Netherlands. “First there was a pop, and then (there) was smoke.”

Smith said one passenger climbed over other people, went across the aisle and tried to restrain the man, who officials say was trying to ignite an explosive device. The heroic passenger appeared to have been burned.

Afterward, the suspect was taken to a front-row seat with his pants cut off and his legs burned. Multiple law enforcement officials also said the man appeared badly burned on his legs, indicating the explosive was strapped there. The components were apparently mixed in-flight and included a powdery substance, multiple law enforcement and counterterrorism officials said.

Multiple law enforcement officials identified the suspect in Friday’s attempted attack as Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab. He was described as Nigerian.

One law enforcement official said the man claimed to have been instructed by al-Qaeda to detonate the plane over U.S. soil, but other law enforcement officials cautioned that such claims could not be verified immediately, and said the man may have been acting independently — inspired but not specifically trained or ordered by terror groups.

I guess Abdul Mutallab didn’t get the memo that we are supposed to be loved in the Middle East now that the evil cowboy is back in Texas.

Update: ABC News is reporting that the plot was launched by Al-Qaeda in Yemen.

The plot to blow up an American passenger jet over Detroit was organized and launched by al-Qaeda leaders in Yemen who apparently sewed bomb materials into the suspect’s underwear before sending him on his mission, federal authorities tell ABC News.

Investigators say the suspect had more than 80 grams of PETN, a compound related to nitro-glycerin used by the military. The so-called shoe bomber, Richard Reid, had only about 50 grams kin his failed attempt in 2001 to blow up a U.S.-bound jet. Yesterday’s bomb failed because the detonator may have been too mall or was not in “proper contact” with the explosive material, investigators told ABC News.

Hasan Sent Money To Pakistan?

Dallas Morning News/Via Hot Air

WASHINGTON – Authorities have been examining whether Fort Hood massacre suspect Nidal Malik Hasan wired money to Pakistan in recent months, an action that one senior lawmaker said would raise serious questions about Hasan’s possible connections to militant Islamic groups.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., said sources “outside of the [intelligence] community” learned about Hasan’s possible connections to the Asian country, which faces a massive Islamist insurgency and is widely believed to be Osama bin Laden’s hiding place.

Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, would not identify the sources. But he said “they are trying to follow up on it because they recognize that if there are communications – phone or money transfers with somebody in Pakistan – it just raises a whole other level of questions.”

Can we please drop the whole PTSD charade now?

Domestic Terrorist Will Not Speak At UMass

Was it our hapless governor who barred United Freedom Front leader, Luc Levasseur, from speaking? Of course not.  His parole officer put the kibosh on it.

Domestic terrorist Raymond Luc Levasseur won’t speak at University of Massachusetts-Amherst tomorrow night because his federal parole officer in Maine won’t let him travel out of that state for the controversial event, the ex-con told the Herald.

Gov. Deval Patrick and UMass officials had tried unsuccessfully to block Levasseur’s speech but the event was going forward – sponsored by a program at the publicly funded school – until Levasseur’s parole officer pulled the plug. UMass officials and Levasseur’s parole officer did not return calls seeking comment.

Levasseur’s wife may take his place at the forum, Levasseur told the Herald. The event will also include defense lawyers and jurors who served on Levasseur’s conspiracy case.

I still say not a single penny of taxpayer funds should be allocated towards this event.
