More information is coming out about Tarek Mehanna, who was arrested in Sudbury, MA today.
An FBI search of a computer belonging to terror suspect Tarek Mehanna found al-Qaeda propaganda, photos of him smiling at Ground Zero in New York and evidence he reveled in the death of American soldiers overseas.
Agents assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force obtained a copy of Mehanna’s hard drive during a search of his bedroom on Aug. 11 and 12, 2006, according to an affidavit.
The computer files revealed Mehanna “glorified” the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and contained pictures of him and others smiling at the Ground Zero site. In the picture, Mehanna posed pointing a finger in the air, the affidavit said.
Mehanna also sought out Web links to a video tribute for 9/11 hijackers and described New York as “the land of rape” in a 2006 communication.
Agents found evidence Mehanna talked online about how to support international terrorism and translated al-Qaeda propaganda from Arabic to English for wider distribution through the Web.
Among the texts found on Mehanna’s computer was “39 Ways to Serve and Participate in Jihad,” which describes how people can raise money and support the movement in spirit through “electronic jihad.” Agents believe Mehanna translated the text to English and posted it on his Web site.
The affidavit claims Mehanna “reveled” in the death of American soldiers overseas. In July 2006, Mehanna sent associates a video he said showed the “aftermath of the retaliation” against American soldiers accused of rape in Iraq.
The video file included images of the “mutilation and abuse” of the remains of American personnel in Iraq and contained a message from Osama bin Laden, who thanked the Iraqi mujahideen for “continued attacks on America and its allies,” the affidavit said.
At his arraignment today, the arrogant punk refused to stand up when the charges against him were read and only did so when he father ordered him to get off his ass, kicking his chair over while doing so.
Lock him up and throw away the key.
